I am an extreme newb in photography... Just trying things out here... I'd like some critique very much. P.S. Can I link your blog in my favourites? (reciprocating is NOT mandatory.)

Personally, I think I would like the photo more if the striking wheel were in focus, but it's a good picture, either way. Thanks for the idea, too! I've been wanting to practice some close-ups and I have a nice little collection of Zippos, some pretty fancy, that I hadn't considered as subjects until now.

Neat closeup!! What camera are you using? Your entrecard button has a Canon IS S1 or S2. I have the S2 IS.
I really need to learn how to use it manually. I love to have my subject focused and everything else in the background blurred.

Good eye saph. Actually I think that my entrecard is a S5 and my camera is an S3.

Yes, I recommend you learn using it in manual mode, there are lots of information about it in the net. And after you learn it you could use some shortcuts like aperture priority mode.

Keep going :)

Hi! Interesting photo. I like close ups too. They make you discover whole new spaces, dimensions...if I may say so.
Greetings from Croatia!
